Analog Telephone Adapter (ATA)

The Analog Telephone Adapter (ATA) is a remotely manageable, single-port device that allows subscribers of Voice-over-IP (VoIP) services to use their existing analog telephones and fax machines.

The ATA is an easy-to-use adapter that quickly enables the use of Voice-over-IP services by existing telephones and fax machines at residences and small businesses. Motorol's ATA allows VoIP service providers, challenged by installation and VoIP quality issues, to save costs, improve customer satisfaction, and deliver improved quality of service (QoS) through auto-configuration and remote management of the ATA device on the subscriber's home or business network.

Auto-configuration
When connected to a Netopia gateway or router, the ATA auto-configures for ease in deployment and without requiring subscriber or provider intervention. In addition, the ATA can be configured using the Motorola Netopia Broadband Server (NBBS )remote device management platform. For even more flexibility, the ATA offers Web-based configuration and management, as well as a CD-based wizard for subscriber installation.

Remote Device Management
Leveraging Motorola's proven remote device management experience, the ATA uniquely offers remote management capabilities for ongoing support and QoS configuration of large-scale deployments through the Motorola NBBS remote device management platform.

Investment Protection
This compact ATA protects the investments that residential and small business subscribers have in existing equipment, while allowing them to enjoy the benefits provided by IP-based voice services (available from third-party VoIP service providers).

Feature Enhancement
Value-added voice features such as call waiting, call hold, call forwarding, Caller ID, conference calling, and call transfer can be offered to subscribers using the Motorola ATA, even if their existing equipment does not support these features.

Using a standard 10/100 Ethernet AutoMDI-X port, the Motorola ATA can leverage any type of broadband connection, including DSL, cable modem, and fixed wireless, and features one voice (FXS) port.
