How to set up the Sagem Planet ISDN card with Timbuktu Pro for MacOS.
How to perform Timbuktu Direct Dial connections using a Sagem Planet ISDN card.
Need to use Sagem ISDN cards to set up a Direct connection between Timbuktu Pro for MacOS hosts.
Follow these steps to configure the Sagem Planet ISDN card to work with Timbuktu Pro. First you'll need to install and configure Serial2ISDN and then you'll configure Timbuktu Pro.
-
First install Serial2ISDN using the Planet Goodies diskette. Or download the latest version from Sagem's website. Double-click on the installation button and follow the installation instructions.
-
Restart the computer to boot up Serial2ISDN.
-
Find Serial2ISDN in the Control Panels and double-click to open the Serial2ISDN window.
-
Turn the Serial2ISDN Control Panel to "On".
-
Choose a port "Modem Port" or "Printer Port". Modem Port is recommended if the Printer Port is being used. The data will be redirected from the modem port to the Comm Tool Box.
-
Click the Satellite Dish icon.
-
You will then need to select the proper communications tool box device. You can choose a connection tool device such as the GeoPort ISDN Tool, Planet ISDN card or H.320 ISDN Card, etc. In this example we will configure the H.320 ISDN card. From "Method:" choose the "Planet ISDN Tool".
-
You can leave the ISDN number to call blank because Timbuktu will pass the dialing strings to the ISDN card.
-
Select the protocol you wish to connect with. X-25 64K, X25 128K, and HDLC are the recommended protocols. Please make sure your correspondents Protocol profile is the same protocol that you are going to connect to them with. Thus, if you set your profile to HDLC, then the remote device protocol also needs to be set at HDLC.
- Click OK. You will return to the Serial2ISDN Control Panel. Close this window. IMPORTANT: You will not be able to initiate a Timbuktu Pro connection if the Serial2ISDN Window is open. It needs to be closed in order for the Timbuktu Pro configuration routine to call Serial2ISDN for activation.
-
Start the Timbuktu Pro application. Choose Preferences from the Menu.
- Go to the Dial Direct menu
- Choose "Serial2ISDN" in the Serial Port window.
- Select Modem Type: use the Netopia (Farallon) ISDN script.
- Save the settings.
-
Choose "New Connection" from the Timbuktu Pro menu.
-
Select Direct Dial
- If you need to place a 128 Kbps call using two B Channels on ISDN you must put an "&" between the two telephone numbers.
